Another year full of exciting new things waiting to happen.  I went back to work yesterday and while it was nice to be off, I did miss my kids and look forward to my routine.  Remind me of this when I complain about how tired I am and cannot wait for school to be over.  🙂

During my time off I thought about a few things that I am excited about and looking forward to this year.  Last year I wrote a similar post and realized that a few of them are included in this year’s post.  Here they are in no specific order or importance.

This year's goals-1

1. The Lion King.  This is my FAVORITE Disney movie and I CANNOT WAIT.

2. This new linkup.  I am happy to be doing this with Kim.  I am also excited to get to know many of you better and follow along on your personal, running, and other journeys and experiences.

3. Move to a house.  For sure I will move this year.  My landlord is waiting for me to leave so he can remodel the apartment and possibly rent it out for more money.  This house is a bit old and the inside is outdated.  I have an idea of the kind of house I want and the area but still it is hard to find one that isn’t too expensive and/or that doesn’t require any work to be done to it.

4. Run a couple half marathons in new states.  Currently I’ve completed 39 half marathons in different states.  I am signed up for SC and MT.  Planning to also add MI and DE.

5.  Washer and dryer.  With the new house I will also have a washer and dryer.  I don’t have one in the apartment building so my sister and I go to the laundromat.  It isn’t that bad and it is about 1/2 mile away.  But I do miss the convenience of going down to the basement to do laundry.

6. Trips to TX, WA, and Mexico.  I have two nephews that graduate in June and my niece in August.  One nephew lives in San Antonio and the other one in Seattle.  Luckily the graduations take place on two separate weekends so we’ll have a chance to attend both of them.  I am excited for my mother to go to Seattle.  She’s been to San Antonio but never to Seattle.  I am sure she’ll be happy to see another grandson graduate from a university.  Last year she went to San Francisco!

Now let’s talk about the giveaway.  There will be two prizes: 1) A pair of Lily Trotter Compression Socks and pair of Lock Laces and 2) 2019 Journal.

Please use the Rafflecopter below to enter.   This giveaway will run until January 11th at 11:59 pm.  The winner will be selected on January 12th.  The giveaway is open to US residents only.  All entries are verified, so please be sure to complete them or a new, random winner will be selected.

34 Comments on Tuesday Topics: What I’m looking forward to this year

  1. You have some exciting things lined up for 2019! Good luck with house hunting. I know it can be a stressful process but I’m sure your find the right house for you.

I hope to see you in Delaware and Michigan this year too! I can’t believe you have run in so many states! I’ve only run in 11 + DC and I thought that was good, lol.

  2. You have lots of exciting things to look forward to this year!

I’m still just hoping to get to Savannah & beyond that I don’t know. Seattle is great, but we visit family there & my MIL is elderly so most of the time we don’t actually do anything. 🙁

Good luck with your house hunting! It ain’t easy.

          • Well, driving around Seattle is super intimidating. My SIL doesn’t mind it, but she’s usually pretty busy & I hate asking. Although when we were there last summer she very kindly dropped me off & picked me up at a path so I could do my long run without the killer hills near them!

And my MIL is in her mid 80s & really can’t do a whole lot.

Don’t get me wrong, we’ve been many times & have occasionally played tourist — just not as much as I’d like to!

  3. so many things to look forward to! I love that you are doing halfs in all the states. and 4 likely this year!

hope you find the right now for YOU!

I am also looking forward to this linkup – I posted on Kim’s page but I guess I need to link here too?

    • Thanks! Your post should appear on both of our pages. This is our first one so bear with us while we work out the kinks. 🙂

So far I have 4 on my calendar but hopefully I can add an additional 2-3 more races.

  4. Thanks for taking over this link-up. You have a big year planned. Good luck with the house. Fingers crossed that you find the perfect one.

I’m looking forward to 5 halfs, a 15k and who knows maybe NYCM.

  5. Laundry is so underrated. My two prior apartments had it in building even though I always sent it out it was nice to be able to run down and wash something small. I can’t do that now and so my bathroom is a state with running clothes hand washed and air drying ahead of a laundromat run.
    Good luck with the adventures!
So good to “meet” you and look forward to getting to know you through this new one

      • I have to pre-wash otherwise I don’t think they’d ever lose the funk due to the delays between runs and laundry day

        • I use Rockin’ Green Active Wear Detergent. I have found it to remove the funky smell from my clothes. They now smell clean and I love smelling them right out of the washer.

  6. Thank you so much for continuing the link-up! I didn’t realize you had run in that many different states! My count is 13, but I’m hoping for a few more states to make an appearance this year. My races are EVERY distance, so hopefully that will make it easier to get all 50 states.

    • I hope you link up with us every Tuesday! It’s taking me longer than expected to finish up my 50+1 state goal. If all goes as planned, I should be done next year. HI is the most difficult one to schedule since I can only go in the summer.

  7. That’s awesome you have 39 states!! Do you know which DE half you’ll be running? I live near Delaware and pace three of the Delaware beaches half marathons.

  8. Excited for your new linkup! I will join tomorrow. You have some exciting things on tap for 2019 look forward to hearing more

  9. You have a fun year lined up! All the best with your move. I can’t believe my daughter is graduating high school in May. Time flies.

  10. Good luck with the house hunt! It can be frustrating, but of course worth it when you are finally in your own place.

  11. I’m excited about The Lion King too, but Aladdin is really the one I’m waiting for – my favorite Disney movie!

The new house sounds exciting! Our old apartment didn’t have a washer/dryer so I feel your pain on that!

  12. You have so many fun things lined up this year! I also love Lion King and can’t wait for the new movie! House hunting can be fun but sooooo stressful! I originally bought a condo when I first moved out of my parents’ house and it had a small washer/dryer in the unit, which was so nice. Many places I looked at didn’t have them. It’s just so convenient to throw a load in here and there whenever you want.

That’s great you and your mom will be able to travel for the graduations. You are a good aunt!

    • I also bought a condo a few years ago and it had a small washer and dryer. I loved it! Every place I have ever lived at has had washer and dryer. We had them before but the owner remodeled the basement and guess “forgot” to add them. Oh well.

I think I am the best aunt to my nieces and nephews! 🙂 I adore all of them!

  13. Thanks for taking over the reins with this linkup – I’m glad to see it still around! Sounds like you have a great year planned, too!

Thank you for your comment!
