Weekly Mileage-22.jpg

I spent 2 days setting up my classroom and was exhausted!  My classroom is ready.  I just need a few more things to finish up like labeling their lockers, mailbox, job responsibilities, etc., but I will be ready on August 26th.  We have two Institute days and they students’ first day is on the 28th.

My Peloton bike was delivered on Tuesday afternoon.  Isn’t it beautiful?  Even Lola is checking it out.  I thought the bike would have toe cages like the ones at the gym and I would be able to use my running shoes.  Wrong!  After going back and forth with a few people that also own a bike, they convinced me to get cycling shoes.  Thanks Amazon for the fast delivery!  It took me some time to figure out how to clip in and out.  🙂

This week I ran 3 days for a total of 11 miles.  Tuesday was a planned rest day but then woke up very tired on Wednesday and Thursday so I decided to rest those days too.  I made a mistake and thought my mother had a doctor appointment on Friday.  Nope, her appointment was on Thursday.  I was angry because I couldn’t believe I made that mistake.  Ugh, the next available time slot isn’t till September 16th.

The plan on Saturday was to run 8.5 miles.  I had a great run last week and really thought I could have another great one yesterday.  It was humid and I wasn’t feeling it.  I did enjoy running along the lakefront and seeing many friends.

This morning I did my first Peloton ride.  It was 20 minutes Glaciers & Rocks Scenic Ride.  It was fun and I was very sweaty at the end.  I need to buy a small fan to have nearby.

So that was my week.  I didn’t do much running but I am OK with it.  This week should be less hectic so I am hoping to run more days.

26 Comments on Weekly Run Down: Room set up and it is here

  1. I hope the bike works out well for you! I have heard such great things for the friends who have them. Hope it’s a great school year for you!

  2. If you need to buy a fan, the Vornado are awesome
    Your room looks amazing!
Hope for a cancellation so your mom can get in sooner

  3. The clip on shoes are way better than wearing your running shoes. When you’re clipped in, you have so much more power! You’ll see. Enjoy your new Peloton.

  4. I think I’d be a bit annoyed that a bike that expensive doesn’t come with toe cages! I’ve heard it’s better to use cycling shoes, though, so probably worth it in the long run.

    • Yeah, I was surprised and annoyed too. 🙂 In a way I am glad it didn’t and was “forced” to buy the cycling shoes. I have also heard that it is better to use those shoes.

  5. Definitely sounds like a hectic week! My mom is often getting her appointments wrong these days. The day I came down to take her to a dr (which requires an even longer drive), she had the time wrong (although not the day, thankfully). Thankfully they also managed to squeeze her in.

I’ll bet that bike is awesome!

    • I am glad that doctor appointment worked out for your mom. The doctor wasn’t even in that day so it wasn’t like we could wait to see him. Oh well. Nothing else to do about it now but make sure it doesn’t happen again.

  6. Have fun with your new bike! My BIL just got a Peloton treadmill and it’s amazing. All the best with the new school year. My 8th grader missed the first 2 days of class last week because we were in Atlanta for college drop-off. I wish the schools here didn’t go back so darn early.

  7. Your classroom looks great! You definitely will appreciate having the cycling shoes on the Peloton. You get more power clipped in! I would need a fan for sure.

  8. That bike is definitely a beauty! Glad you got the clip ins – they are better for your body and you can use them to pull UP as well as push down for a better turnover and smoother spin!
And your classroom looks great. We are on the same schedule here and I cannot wait for the first day of school 🙂

    • I am excited about my room. Yesterday was my last day setting up so we’ll see how it goes next week. 🙂 Good luck to your boys! I hope they are excited too. I am glad I got the shoes because I am really liking my bike a lot.

  9. That’s so weird that you cant wear regular shoes with your spin bike! Glad you were able to find cycling shoes quickly. Your classroom looks great- I hope you have a good start to the school year!

    • I can use my regular shoes if I buy some toe cages to insert my shoes just like the bikes at the gym. A few people told me it is better to get cycling shoes and they’re right. I like them much better!

  10. How exciting that your Peloton bike arrived. On Wednesday morning while out on a ride, I forgot that I was clipped in when my husband stopped and I pulled up beside him. I could have peddled a few more rotations and unclipped, but instead I panicked and turned right over landing on my elbow and knee. Ouch!

I hope you and your students have a wonderful school year!
