Weekly Mileage-33.jpg

Hello there!  It is cold here and I am not ready for it.  Well despite the weather, I made it outside for 5 runs.  I am excited because I will be running/training with DWRunning this month.  Plus, I have a half marathon next month so I had to stop being lazy and run.  🙂

I received a new pair of Oiselle tights.  They’re reflective and I love them!  For sure car drivers can see me.

Most of my runs usually end with a “0” at the end.  On Tuesday morning just when I was almost done with my run, I was about to turn into my street when I saw a van also turn and park on the street.  Coincidence?  I don’t know and I didn’t wait to find out.  I kept running to the next street (one block east) and then another block to head home.    During the day it wouldn’t have bothered me but it was still dark and it did freak me out a little.

Check out Mateo’s tie.  Doesn’t he look handsome?

I saw Deborah’s new shoes on Instagram and knew I had to get them too.  Aren’t they gorgeous?

Saturday morning was sunny but also cold and windy.  My goal was to run 1 hour.  The plan was to run for 30 minutes and then turn around to head back home.  Then I decided to run 2 miles, run to the next major street and then head back home.  I wasn’t looking at pace nor distance but figured it would be around 5 miles or so.  I got home and saved my run without looking at how far or how long I had run.  Ha, I ran 4.97 miles.  Did it bother me?  Not really.  It used to before but not anymore.

Sunday morning wasn’t too cold.  It was in the high 30s and it felt good being out there.  I ran 3 miles since I had to be back home in time to shower, get ready, and meet some friends for breakfast at 9am.

Overall, it was a good week for me.  I am pleased with my 5 days of running.  I did take one Peloton class on Thursday.  It was fun biking through France!

30 Comments on Weekly Run Down: Cold weather and a good week of running

  1. Yikes to that van! I almost was hit by a car yesterday–a woman turned the corner and didn’t see me. I had to jump to the side. It’s not that I wasn’t visible–I was wearing red and it was mid-morning. She just wasn’t paying attention. Hopefully those hi-viz tights will make you jump out at the drivers!

    • I read somewhere that runners would give out so many tickets if we could. Whenever I see a driver about to turn, I make eye contact so I know that they saw me. Sometimes they back away and let me through. If there is no eye contact then I let them go first.

  2. First of all, the shoes are gorgeous. I’m not quite due for new shoes yet but I’m very tempted. For the most part I run even miles, but this summer when I did the speed program my watch didn’t show me the total workout distance so I ended up with all kinds of uneven distances and strangely enough the world did not end.

Congrats on a strong running week and Mateo wins most handsome cat on the internet.

  3. Those shoes are so fun! Yikes on that van. I’m glad you kept going. That happened to me the first time I ever ran 8 miles. A guy started calling after me so I ignored him and kept going. I was supposed to turn around and loop back, which of course I didn’t wanna do so 8 miles it was. Better safe than sorry right? Matteo is so handsome!

  4. What fun shoes! UNfortunately, I still let the mileage bother me and run around like a goon trying to hit even mileage. I’ve tried to make one run every week more time based instead of mileage based (like run for 30 minutes) but then I find myself running around the front until I hit 30 minutes instead of stopping at 29:XX if I was faster on the way back.

    • Oh I know what you mean. A few years ago I started working with a new coach and a few of my runs each week ended in uneven mileage. Eventually I let it go and focused more on the accomplishments.

  5. The tights are funky, which is code for “I LOVE them!” I also like the pretty shoes, but they’re not compatible with my high-maintenance feet..bummer! Great job on getting all those miles done!

  6. When I would run in the dark before school (before I retired) I would get spooked at suspicious-acting people in cars too. It’s good to trust your instincts and run a little bit extra, rather than taking a chance. Love the new kicks! 🙂

  7. Always trust those instincts when you’re creeped out – its not worth it to find out if you’re wrong! And I love those tights…and Mateo’s tie – omg adorable!!

  8. Sounds like a really good week over all! Though that incident with the van would have creeped me out too. That was smart to keep running to the next block. Mateo is so cute in his tie!

  9. yay for more running! I love the new tights and yes, the shoes too. Mateo is sooooo handsome with his tie on. Love cats in ties haha! good that you got another peloton class in as well!

  10. Looooove the tights! What half are you running? I think I would have finished up to .0 if I was that close, but anything in the range .1-.7 really doesn’t matter a whole lot to me anymore! I do have a bit of a competition going on with a coworker who is on Strava, so I actually like to get those little partial miles in, just in case I need it to get over his weekly mileage!! 🙂
