Weekly Mileage-37.jpg

Last week I wrote about a pain in my foot.  I blamed it on my shoes.  My coach told me it was tight calves and told me to make sure I stretched and foam rolled.  I also started running again in my Brooks Levitate 1.  They feel so soft and comfortable.

Monday was 3 miles and on Tuesday it was 1 mile.  It was all I could handle both days.  I also mentioned being more tired than usual and sneezing a lot.  I sent a message to my doctor asking about an allergy test but she has not written back.  I went to Target and bought the store brand of Claritin.  I took one last night but today still sneezed but not as much as before.

I was supposed to run Wednesday but take a guess as to why I didn’t?  I thought I could do it after school but I stayed till about 5:30 working on a project and came home for dinner and to rest.  I ended up running the next day and it felt great.

2 miles on Friday was the perfect distance to start off the weekend.  I went to the bathroom in the middle of the night and came back to Mateo getting comfortable on my bed.  🙂  So cool seeing all of the Christmas decorations.

Saturday was 7 miles on my calendar but I woke up with an achy body.  I thought I had a fever so I took a Tylenol and stayed on the couch till about noon.  Then my mother and I did some errands followed by a late lunch.  We came home and I took a nap!

My foot is feeling much better.  The top of it is no longer tender.  Even my plantar doesn’t hurt as much.  These running injuries suck but I am so happy that so far I am feeling better.

This morning I took Mateo to PAWS to be neutered.  I picked him up at 4pm and he is doing fine.   I hope my little baby isn’t in too much pain.

Less than 2 weeks to go till Winter Break?  Yes, I am EXCITED!!

Winter Break-1.jpg

This week was not great running wise but sometimes that is how it is.  Hopefully next week is better.  I decided not to run the Kiawah Half Marathon.  I am definitely not ready for it and don’t want to go undertrained like I did for the Detroit Half Marathon I did in October.

Linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down.

27 Comments on Weekly Run Down: Foot is better and another slow week

  1. Great to hear that your foot is better! Sometimes a little foam rolling can work magic!
Your tiredness and achy body really seem to point to allergies. I hope your doctor will respond soon so that you get an appointment.
Good that you decided against another half marathon, that’s no joke when you couldn’t train properly. Have a great week!

    • Thanks, Catrina. My doctor said no to allergy test. She gave me a reason which now I cannot remember. It has been a few days and so far no more sneezing. Maybe the pills are working after all?

  2. Glad to hear your foot is doing better Z! And hopefully you can get over whatever is going on with those possible allergies soon!

  3. Glad to hear the foot is feeling better! It makes sense if your calves are tight, you’d feel it elsewhere as well…everything is connected LOL Take care…hope that cold disappears, too!

  4. Happy to hear your foot is better. Hope mine will be soon too.

    Injuries suck.

I’m thinking of DNSing my January half. Boo.

    • My coach has me using it twice a week for cross training. This week I am supposed to use it tomorrow (Thursday) and Sunday. And I agree that it does not hurt my feet at all either.

  5. Glad to hear your foot is better! It sounds like that’s the right decision to skip the race instead of doing it undertrained and maybe prolonging the foot pain. I love all those photos of Matteo, he is so cute!

  6. I think it was a wise decision not to do Kiawah — but I know it still “hurts”, especially as I know that’s not a cheap race! Cause it’s one on my radar, has been for years. I had the opposite problem, I was ready, but just couldn’t really manage it at this time.

The foot feeling better is good. I hope the rest of you feels better too! I’ve been really draggy on & off, it’s just this time of year for me, January is always like I’m coming out a long, dark tunnel (sort of literally!).

    • Luckily I registered last year for like $49 last year so it does not hurt as much. I had a Southwest airline reservation and luckily I was able to cancel my flight and use it for when I go to Kansas in April. There is always next year! 🙂

  7. If Claritin didn’t help, maybe try Zyrtec (C doesn’t work on me, but Z does). I clip the pills in half and take 1 in the morning and 1 at bed time.

  8. my baby Charlie got neutered last week too! I felt bad for him but he’s doing just fine!

I hope you have a better week – sorry to hear you decided not to do the Kiawah half but it’s probably the best decision.

here’s to the upcoming winter break!!!

    • Thanks, Renee! Mateo is running around like nothing happened to him. My mother is more concerned about him than I am. She calls to check on him and make sure he is doing well.

  9. Can you believe we’re just about at winter break??
Glad to hear your foot is feeling better. My youngest daughter complained about sneezing/sore throat and our pediatrician told us allergy meds can take up to a couple of weeks to be effective. I hadn’t heard that before. They always work on me pretty quickly.
Oh poor Mateo. They spring back from surgery pretty quickly.

    • I guess everyone adjusts differently to meds? I am going to wait a few weeks and see if I feel better. If not then I am going to try Zyrtec based on Wendy’s recommendation. Mateo is a strong boy and is running around like nothing happened to him.

  10. Yay that your foot is feeling better. It’s weird I usually don’t have a problem with allergies this time of year but I’m sneezing like crazy. Oh well, it’s always something.

    • I’ve never had problems with allergies either. I don’t even know why I am sneezing so much so allergies was the first thing I thought of. I know it isn’t a cold because I still don’t have one. Plus, my throat is the first things that hurts when I am about to get a cold. So confusing! 🙂
