Happy Sunday!  I am so glad it is finally getting warmer here.  Yesterday it got as high as 50 degrees and today it went up to over 60 degrees.  It feels like Spring is around the corner.

I did not run one single day this week.  After my half marathon in Atlanta last week, it took me a few days to recover.  I was hurting a lot.  It hurt to walk and also when getting up in the morning.  I felt like I had just run a marathon.  The feeling was also similar to when I ran the Detroit Free Press Half Marathon in October.  Anyway, I knew I was going to be sore for a few days since I did train properly and the course was very hilly.  🙂

My legs felt better by Thursday but my body wanted to sleep.  And that is what I did.  I was also more hungry than usual.

I was off on Monday due to Casimir Pulaski Day.  I was glad to be off but honestly don’t understand why we are off.  I would rather work that day and get out of school one day earlier.  This year our last day is Friday, June 5th.  I went to get a haircut, did laundry, and finished some work.  My babies kept me company.

This week we did several fun activities to celebrate Dr. Seuss!  He is one of our favorite authors.  We colored, watched a movie, and made some hats.  I realized I did not take pictures of the activities.  🙁

I don’t know if I mentioned this but last month I applied to be on the Brooks Run Happy team.  Sad news but I was not selected.  Am I sad and disappointed?  Yes!  It was on my running wish list from last year.  I was so happy to find out that Brooks opened up the application process and anyone could apply to be on the team.  I know thousands applied but don’t know how many were selected.  Notification emails were sent on Monday and I know of two girls that were selected.  Since I didn’t receive a rejection email, a little part of me thought that maybe I was on the “backup” list.  Nope.  I found out on Friday that I wasn’t selected.  Apparently there was a problem with Brooks’ email notification system and that is why many people were not notified.  I found out from someone at BibRave.

Anyway, moving on.  Life still goes on.  🙂  I still like their shoes and will continue to buy them.

My next half marathon is the Garmin Oz Half Marathon in Olathe, KS on April 18.  It will be state #44.  After that race I will be going to Boston to spectate the marathon.  I am looking forward to it!  However, I’ve read that there is a possibility that it could be cancelled?  NO!  After running in Kansas, I will be going to Fargo, ND for state #45.

Have you run either of those marathons?  I know KS is hilly and ND is flat but that is all I know.  What to join me on either or both races?

Linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down.

  1. Yay to recovery! It’s good to rest the body.
Sorry you didn’t get selected for the Brooks Run Happy team. How annoying something went wrong with their notification system!
States 44 and 45! You’re nearly there! 😊 Go girl!

  2. I grew up in Illinois but this is the first I’ve heard of Casimir Pulaski, I guess we didn’t get a holiday for him back when I was in school or I’ve forgotten, either is possible. I hope you had a good rest week, and hopefully Boston doesn’t get canceled. Bring on #44 & #45!

    • I did not know you grew up in IL. I don’t remember it in high school but have been off that day since I started teaching. I am late in responding to your comment. Boston and Garmin Oz have been cancelled.

  3. I haven’t been racing at all but I’m still waking up stiff and creaky! Bummer on the Brooks team but you can’t take those things personally! I love Dr. Suess!

  4. Sorry the Run Happy team was not to be. I’m with you on CP day. Seems extraneous to me. My daughter has an early release and Friday off this week and a day off on election day next week too. It’s crazy! Maybe its because we didn’t use any snow days.
Sorry those hills in Atlanta ate you up!

  5. sounds like you really needed the recovery week! I had a rest/recovery week as well, mostly from being paranoid of people who may have the corona virus… Sorry to hear about Brooks. Maybe next time? Haven’t done either of those races either. I’ve only done a couple of races in the US! I hope Boston doesn’t get cancelled!!

    • Well, it’s been two weeks and I still haven’t run. I haven’t been motivated nor excited to run. My 8k next weekend and my race in KS were cancelled.

  6. That’s too bad about Brooks. I don’t think I’d even think about applying, even though I’ve run in Brooks for years (among other shoes, though). But you have to be in it to win it, right?

The whole canceling everything in sight is just crazy.

  7. Bummer on the Brooks Run Happy gig…I didn’t even know such a thing existed or I’d have applied. I’ve been a big fan of their shoes for 4-1/2 years now. I hope Boston is still a go….

  8. That’s impressive that you’re on state 44! And I hadn’t heard those rumors about Boston 🙁 Fingers crossed that things improve and they don’t have to cancel.

    • Yep! I am not determined to finish this goal so i can work on another one. Maybe? My KS race was cancelled. Now I have to look for another one. And well I am assuming that by now you heard about Boston.

  9. I’m sorry about Brooks. 🙁

I would absolutely run Kansas AND ND, just because I need those states.

We have some kind of bizarre days off as well, but we get out of school in late May, so I’m not complaining..

    • Wait, are you racing the states too? How did I miss that? My KS race was cancelled. I am hoping my ND isn’t cancelled too, but I will understand if it is.

  10. You sure do get around.

Sorry about Brooks. I don’t apply for much. Less disappointment.

Hope your pain leaves the building. And you enjoy for next half. Spectating Boston will be so fun.

So far NYC is on!! Fingers crossed.

Thank you for your comment!
