I know October is not over yet.  We still have a few more days left.  Things are going well in the running department and I am trying to stay positive and taking it day by day in the work department.

It’s been 7 months since everything changed in this world.  Still cannot believe it’s been that long.  Two more months and 2020 will be over.  Will next year be the same?  Or maybe a little better?  I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Mileage:  As of this morning I’ve run 87.54 miles.  For sure I will make it to 100 this month.   July has been my highest with 103.54 miles.  It looks like I will pass that amount and it makes me excited.

My highest mileage ever was 186.27 miles in July 2016.  Crazy, huh?

Highest Mileage Week:  24.57.  It was this past week and it took me 4:58:47 hours.

Current Challenge:  None.  Anything good out there?  I am doing a running streak.  Today is day #60.  So far so good.

Current Book:  None but I need to pick up “Truths I Never Told You” from the library.  I also have requested the following books:

In the Dream House
Once I was You
Notorious RBG
The Vanishing Half
The Lies That Bind
Saving Ruby King

I know I can get these faster as an e-book but seriously the last thing I want to do after being on the computer for a few hours is stare at another gadget to read.  I want to sit down with my book and a glass of wine.

Current Song:  Wind of Change.  I don’t listen to it while running.  For some reason it relaxes me so I play it during breaks throughout the day.

Current Shoes:  Brooks Ghost 20th x Ghost 12.  I have way too many pairs (currently 6 pairs in boxes).  My plan is to replace my shoes every 3 months which is about 300+ miles per pair.

Favorite new item:  Spiral Hair Ties.  I love that they prevent tangling and hair damage.

What am I looking forward to next month?  My birthday!  Actually, there are few of us that link up here and/or on Sunday that also have a November birthday.  Time to celebrate!  I am also looking forward to a few days off for Thanksgiving.  I know things will be different but hanging out with my siblings will be a great time.

How often do you replace your running shoes?

  1. You are doing great!!!

I need those hair ties. I just use scrunchies and am always losing them.

I haven’t run 100 miles in a month in a very long time. But I do want to get to 1000 for the year. That means about 84 each month and I’m having mojo problems getting it done during the week.

I like to rotate my shoes and don’t keep track. Have usually 2 pairs that I alternate.

  2. Well done on the highest mileage week! Looks like your running is going really well, especially with that 60-day ongoing streak, too!
I have joined Deborah’s RunBet challenge for November. I did it in the summer and really liked it.
    Nice book list!

  3. I’m a huge fan of the spiral hair ties. I have them stashed throughout the house so that I can ponytail up at a moment’s notice. The Vanishing Half was really good, I have a few of the other titles on my TBR list.

As far as the future, our governor says that there’s a plan to get the vaccine out to most of our state by next summer, and since he’s not up for reelection this year, I guess I believe him. All I know is that someday the pandemic will end, so I try to enjoy the good parts of it – being at home, flexible work schedule, etc as much as I can and try not to think too much about the bad parts.

  4. There is a Criss-Cross Illinois Challenge (I’m doing it thru BibRave). Sounds very similar to the one last summer that involved running across the state (east to west) or vertically (north to south) OR doing BOTH. You have six months to complete it, starting Nov. 1. Let me know if you want some info! It would be fun to rally a few of us to have a virtual team for support and encouragement. None the less, great job on your streak!!!

  5. You’ve been doing a great job this year considering everything that’s going on. Those hair ties are interesting. My hair often gets all tangled on the hair tie & it can be really frustrating.

Of course I like books, but I have to say also love my Kindle. That’s how I read before going to sleep every night (usually, except for the odd occasion I have a book, LOL). Mine’s a paperwhite, though, and I do think that makes a difference. Not bright lights keeping you up!

    • I love the hair ties. I cannot believe I didn’t know about them before. They’re not as tight as the regular ties so sometimes I use two of them. That is alright with me because I was always pulling out my hair with the other ones.

I have an iPad and that is why I don’t want to read any books in it. I am loving my books!

    • I agree they’re not tight enough. For running I use two of them. I like that I don’t pull out any hair anymore. I was losing too much because of the regular hair ties.
