It’s the last Friday of the month which means Marcia has opened the Runfessional!  It’s also time for another edition of Fit Five Friday hosted by DarleneRenéeJenn, Michelle, and me!  Let’s get started, shall we?!

Hello!  Just a few more days and then I can rip off the January page from my wall calendar.  This month brought lots of excitement with a new administration, one week of Winter Break, one remote learning day, and a snowstorm.

Let’s get started on my Runfessions for this month!

I runfess
That this is my first time participating in this linkup.  Not sure why I never participated.  I did read a few posts but I hope to participate every month.

That earlier this week I returned 3 new pairs of running shoes.  Thank goodness for the excellent customer service from Running Warehouse and Zappos.  Now I have 2 pairs in boxes and 1 that I bought from eBay.   I did try to return the 2 pairs to Dick’s Sporting Goods but they said “No”.  That is OK because I still enough pairs to last me this year and more than $300 in credits.  I’ve been eyeing the Brooks Launch 8 but I won’t be buying them anytime soon.  Maybe towards the end of the year and mostly likely they’ll be on sale.

I runfess
That I almost skipped taking a shower after a run.  I run and take a shower everyday.  During one of my runs I wasn’t sweating a lot and thought I could just use a few baby wipes to clean up.  Oh no!  Once I got home I began sweating more and no way was I not going to shower.  I wash my hair every 2-3 days and on the days I do not wash it then I make sure to rinse it with water.

That I am tempted to sign up for MyPanera Coffee Subscription.  It is for unlimited coffee for only $8.99 per month.  If I sign up now then I can get 3 months free.  I love their coffee.  However, the locations are not close to me or where I work.  There are 2 that I can probably go to but it would add an extra 15-20 minutes to my commute.  Is it worth it?

I runfess
That this month I feel like I’ve had only a few decent runs.  I know I’ve complained about the cold weather but it is the snow and ice that I dislike even more.  I’ve had to run slower than normal and sticking to running around the block or the school sidewalk.  We are expecting more snow this weekend.  I know some will say to run longer since I am already out there but honestly I don’t want to.  On a positive note, as of yesterday so far I’ve run 60 miles this month.  Pleased and proud of myself.

Well, this was fun!  How did I do?  Let’s see what I have next month.

  1. I would not go out of my way for Panera coffee. I wouldn’t even go out of my way for Starbucks coffee, although I’d try to make it “on my way” somehow. 🙂 So funny, I know it’s the end of January, but I hadn’t thought of “turning the page” until your post.

  2. What Coco said. I am a Starbucks gal. But I am saving $$ now that I work from home.

And yes being more lax since no one sees me anymore. I runfess, I no longer shower everyone morning or after a run.

My runs have not been great. it’s cold. I don’t have enough time at lunch. I am solo. But I am out there so there is that.

    • Sometimes I would get a coffee for me and my coworkers. These past couple of months I saved so much money since I was making it at home. Now that I am back at work I have stopped a few times but I know I cannot keep doing it. I need to stop being so hard on myself during this time. The fact that I am out there should be enough. Thanks!

  3. Congrats on keeping your streak going and hitting 60 miles!

Now you reminded me that I left a couple of pairs of shoes in my Running Warehouse cart. They do have such great customer service!

  4. Happy first runfession! I runfess that I enjoy running a mile on my lunch break but I almost never do it because of the showering issue. I’m coming up on two full weeks of treadmill running because there is just too much ice outside for me to feel safe. I also runfess that I’ve had my eye on the Launch 8 and I’ve heard some great things.

  5. Great job on runfessing! Doesn’t it feel like a spiritual cleanse (of sorts LOL)? I’m in the market for new distance shoes, but I’ve never even browsed Runners Warehouse…I’ll check that out over lunch. Thanks for the tip!

    • Thanks, Kim! It is fun and I love reading about everyone’s runfessions too. Feels good to laugh. Running Warehouse is the best! I have not ordered from them in a while but they would ship your orders fast and you get them in 2 days.

  6. I would not go out of my way for Panera coffee but if you love it and get 3 months free, you just have to get more than $8.95’s worth in 4 months. You can try it out and see if you use it and if not, cancel!

  7. It doesn’t take much for me to sweat so I have to shower after all of my workouts, but I don’t wash my hair every day.

The Panera coffee deal sounds great but it seems like the locations aren’t too close to you so it may not be worth it.

  8. I runfess that when I’m working from home I sometimes don’t shower right away if I’m running short on time… but I try to make sure I get a quick rinse in when possible!! And.. I runfess that I only wash my hair once every 7 – 10 days! But I rinse and condition in between. I have trained my hair to do this for the last 2 years (also using all natural products) and you honestly cannot tell I don’t wash my hair often.

You really have a shoe thing don’t you haha!

I wouldn’t go out of my way for the coffee deal. But honestly we can get the beans we like (which happen to be starbucks) at the grocery store 3 min walk from here. I’m lazy and can’t seem to like anything that the coffee I was indoctrinated into LOL. (former Starbucks employee).

  9. I didn’t realize you never runfessed, Zenaida. Welcome to the runfessional. I thought about skipping a shower the other day after a run but I couldn’t make myself do it.

    • I think once many years ago I ran and did not shower till late in the day. I had bought a table from Ikea and spent the day putting it together. Now I feel grossed out.

  10. It’s really hard to run in Winter. That darn black ice! And I know way too many runners that ignored it at their peril.

I used to use shower wipes when I couldn’t shower, but they seem to have disappeared. 🙁 If I don’t wash my hair when I shower I don’t feel as clean (weird, I know) but if I do it takes forever to dry — if I blow dry it it’s even frizzier than letting it air dry.

  11. We are expecting snow this weekend too ( more like Sunday night) and of course I am excited….lol
Does Panera sell iced or frozen coffee? If so, I wonder if that is included in the subscription? I have not been there in a very long time. Who am I kidding, I have not been to any restaurant in a long time….lol Have a great weekend!

  12. I won’t go out of my way for coffee–and Starbucks had free coffee for healthcare workers in December! I only went once. I like to have my coffee brewing on the counter.

I only wash my hair twice a week now. I swear, menopause changes all that!

    • I would love free coffee from Starbucks. Yum. The smell of coffee brewing is wonderful. I do it a few times a week but sometimes I want something different. The cold air sometimes makes my scalp itch. Another reason why I don’t wash it often.

  13. I’ve never had Panera coffee. Someone told me it was awful. Honestly since the pandemc started I’ve been brewing my own. Great job on your miles this month!

  14. I don’t always shower right away, but I do need to get it done. Even on our coldest days, still sweat a little. And I have to wash my hair after I run.

How do you end up with so many shoes??? I don’t think I’ve ever had any in boxes! I can’t wait to break them out and use them.
