In five years it will be 2026.  Nothing wrong with thinking ahead.  Things definitely will be better than how they are now, right?  I thought it would be fun and interesting to write about where I see myself in 5 years.  Keep on reading to find out.  🙂

🟣 I hope that I will still be running.  I won’t stop unless it is absolutely necessary.  Hopefully in 5 years I would have completed my goal to run a half marathon in each state.  Hopefully I would have run another marathon or a 50K.  I’ve run two 50Ks and my finish time from my second one is worse than my first one.  Yep, I would like a PR too.

🟣 I hope to still be blogging.  I enjoy it.  These past couple of months have demonstrated to me how much I look forward to reading different blogs.  Your posts have encouraged and motivated me.  You’ve all made me smile and let me know that things will be OK.  Hopefully in 5 years I will have met many more of you.

🟣 Still living in Chicago in a new house.  You know I have to add this one.  While I am grateful to have a place to live, I want something new.  I want to have my own house.  Though right now I am glad I don’t own a home because I hate to shovel.

🟣 I see myself still teaching.  I already made a career change back in 2009 and don’t see myself making another one.  The only change I would like to make is to no longer be a classroom teacher.  I have a certificate in Math and would love to be a Math Interventionist.  This past year was really difficult and challenging.  While teaching isn’t as fun as it used to be, I still know that I am making a difference in these kids’ lives.

🟣 Hopefully I would have traveled to all of these countries or some of them – France, Italy, Hawaii, Africa, and Greece.  Of course I would love to go there to run but most importantly the chance to travel somewhere new.  While Hawaii is not in a different country, it sure sounds like it since it takes so long to get there.  That is how I felt when I traveled to Alaska.  I was in the US but it felt foreign to me.

  1. Its weird to think about 5 years from now, but whats crazy is that 5 years ago doesn’t seem that long ago at all! I will have a 7 year old by then, so I’m sure there will be lots of activities and play dates and sports or whatever he is into at the time. No idea what I’ll be doing with my career then! I imagine it will be similar to what I’m doing now but my job has evolved quite a bit over the last 5 years and I imagine it will continue to do so.

  2. Back when my kids started Kindergarten and the school announced the year of their graduating class, the number sounded SO far off. And then time flies like it always does. I haven’t given any thought about where I see myself in the future. Except I’d like to be able to spend winter in a warmer climate as soon as our youngest heads off to college. Ha!

  3. I have been to all of those “countries” except Italy and Africa, and both are on my bucket list — and so many more!

I do know I won’t be finished with my states. I’m not even half through.

In five years, maybe we’ll have moved. Definitely not wishing away my mom’s time, but I do hope that she passes before we move.

I hope to be teaching more Yoga in 5 years!

  4. This is great. I’ve done it before …more than 5 yeas ago. I have to look back to see if I’ve done anything listed.

I have the same hopes. I definitely want to travel more but there will be less $$ if I retire in 5 years. I just want to be healthy enough to do thigs that make me happy.

  5. Hmmm! In five years things could be completely different- my son will be done with college and my daughter will be nearing the end of high school- hard to even imagine some aspects of my life, but I plan to still be running for sure! And blogging. 🙂

  6. Yikes! I haven’t thought ahead to five years…yet. The hubs is already talking about a place in Florida to do the snowbird thing (for 5-6 weeks). I do plan to still be running, and daily fitness is here to stay. I might even be a grandmother…Whoa! I don’t feel “old” enough for that…

  7. What a fun idea for a blog post! On the one hand 5 years seems like a long ways off and on the other hand I feel like time is just flying by…especially when I think about my kids! In 5 yrs we’ll be empty-nesters – what a thought!

  8. I think it is a great idea to think about where you will be in 5 years. I hope to still be running too. Blogging, I am not so sure about. I think I may be getting burned out. I hope to read about all those trips you will be taking in the near future and I hope to be taking some of my own.

  9. I don’t know what’s going to happen in five years. I used to have such specific plans for everything, but when the pandemic hit, I kind of stopped with that. Now it’s just see what each day brings.
