Welcome to March and to the Ultimate Coffee Date linkup.  I am liking it and wondering why I didn’t participate before?  Who knows but better late than never.

So grab your favorite drink and let’s chat.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I received an email from the Department of State regarding the status of my passport.  I was told they’re processing it and it would take 10-12 weeks.  Now that means for sure I cannot go to Mexico during Spring Break.  I am not disappointed at all.  I guess deep down I really didn’t want to go now.  However, a few days later I got another email letting me know that my passport had been approved and that I should receive it next week.  Hmm, decisions, decisions.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that this week I was interested in two houses but both had offers before I had a chance to see them.  Is it a sign?  I truly believe things happen for a reason.  I know the house market is HOT right now but it is getting ridiculous!  Now I need to think about how much more I am willing to spend to buy a house.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell that I am very excited about the new hybrid schedule at school.  It will start on the 22nd of this month.  With this new schedule the students will be online with me from 8:30am-12pm (instead of 8:30am-3:00pm).  Then in the afternoon they have asynchronous work.  It is the best schedule?  No, but clearly I am not upset about it at all.  Does that make me a bad teacher?  Well, it isn’t like the rest of the day will be free for me because it will be spent either in meetings, grading, lesson planning, etc.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I ordered a few new bras from Brooks.  If you recall, about 2 years ago I was no longer allowed to order any more shoes from the site.  Well, so far my order has not been cancelled so hopefully I will get them.  I still have not found ones that I like.  I bought so many from other companies (lots from Athleta) and I am sure one of these days they will also ban me from ordering anything else from their site.  Why is it so hard to find good running bras?

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that March 16th will be my 200th day of my run streak.  I never thought I would make it this far.  I started it because “why not”?  I was already running 5-6 days a week.  The other days are easy runs and maybe a mile or so.  I think I will continue and will stop if I get injured or if I start training for a marathon.  Right now I am getting back to running consistently again after not running much in February.

  1. I swear by the Brooks Juno bras – they are my favorite and help to support the “girls” for all my high intensity workouts. I hope that you end up liking the ones that you ordered!

  2. Congrats on 200 days! I considered extending my streak for a second but then did not. I love most of Athleta’s stuff but I’ve definitely bought bras that have been disappointing. Good luck with the house hunt. As I always tell my daughters: Things will work out in their own perfect way.

  3. I’m LOL at not running much in February. Girl, you ran every day! 🙂

Yes, houses go in the blink of an eye, and often for more than the asking price, too. I wish we were at a point where we could sell this house. We never sell at the right time. 🙁

Glad that the new school schedule will actually be freeing for you. I get that you’ll still be working the rest of the day, but you can at least move around and use the bathroom more easily!

  4. Wow on that run streak!!

I would go to Mexico but again that’s me. I have been traveling and stayed healthy. You can if you are careful. Esp now that you got the vaccine.

Hope the house thing works out. It is a tough decision. We found the perfect houses and we waited and lost out. So we bought the one we have now. I said we would just update things — never happened lol

  5. What does “asynchronous work” mean? Are they just working on their own? Interesting how differently all the states are handling this! Our schools have been open, M-F, full time since September. The kids have the option to be there in person or be virtual (but they have to commit to one choice or another, not go back and forth.). It’s probably the worst of all possible worlds for the teachers, because they have to be there in person AND deal with the kids who are virtual at the same time. On the bright side, teachers over the age of 50 are now eligible to get the vaccine- my husband signed up right away and gets his first dose on Saturday.

    • Asynchronous means they’re on their own. In a way they really aren’t because they still have a “specials” class. This quarter they have computers and next one would be either media or music. The option you mentioned will be the same for us. However, I was told that the students that are with me in the classroom will still be learning online just like if they were at home. I don’t think parents really understand that. They think I will be teaching them in the classroom like before but that is not the case.

  6. Great job on your run streak! That is quite an accomplishment. I hope the new school schedule works out, maybe this is the solution to some of the turmoil (?).

  7. wait why are you banned from ordering from a site? What does that even mean? Sorry you are still struggling with finding the right bra. I also have a new athleta one I like. Brooks is redoing their entire bra line coming out soon!

    • Haha, I didn’t tell you? Well, maybe banned isn’t the correct word. I think this was 2 years ago when I ordered some shoes and got an email from XX telling me that due to my recent history of ordering and returning shoes, my last order would not be processed. I was not allowed to order anymore from their site. So I took my business elsewhere. 🙂 I saw the new bras so I was curious and ordered them. Interesting that everything from my order history was erased. Now I can start over.

  8. Good luck on the house hunting, Zenaida. I hope you can find something in your price range soon. Glad to hear you are progressing (is that the right word?) to a hybrid schedule. My grandson lives in Colorado. He went right from all-virtual to all in-person learning March 1. He is so happy that he can be in school to see his friends!

    Your run streak is awesome!

  9. 200 days? Wowza! Congrats on keeping your streak going, especially when the weather wasn’t always the best.

House hunting can be so challenging – especially in this current market. Keep the faith that the right one will present itself.

  10. So do you have students in person too? Our students are hybrid too- split into 3 cohorts. The teachers are teaching a few in person and the rest virtually at the same time. Wednesdays are asynchronous for all students.
Wow, 200 days for your run streak is amazing

    • No students in person yet. They will go in on the 22nd. We have two groups. Monday is remote for all students. Groups A will go to school on Tuesday and Wednesday and Group B will be in school on Thursday and Friday. However, those that go to school will still be learning virtually. I will still be teaching online to everyone. There really isn’t much difference except that they will be in the classroom instead of being at home.

  11. Hmmm. Not sure I would go to Mexico. But honestly I won’t travel anywhere right now. It’s a tough decision.

    congrats on your run streak!

house hunting, bidding, etc can be so frustrating. we lost so many houses because they were swept up before we even got a chance to call for an appointment! I mean it will work out in the end but it’s definitely a challenge!

  12. Argh! I keep forgetting to renew my passport. I’m not going anywhere, but I want to get it done. House-hunting is so tough in a hot market, it’s like you need the inside scoop or you will miss out.

  13. That’s an amazing run streak!
Your School schedule is so interesting. What made the district make that decision?
We were remote for a few weeks before and after winter break but the teachers still had to go into the building to teach remotely. Do you have to go to your building or do you get to teach from home?

    • I was teaching from home up until January. Then the District told us we had to work from our classroom beginning on January 11th. Long story short but not many teachers were in agreement with it and worked from home. There were many disagreements and discussions between the District and the School Union. Finally an agreement was reached and all teachers are required to be at the school on the 15th. The schedule was introduced last Fall and I think it was the District that out it together.

  14. 200 days is amazing! You are truly incredible.

Our district’s distance learning is over. We can stay in our virtual program, since it is out of district, but I’m not sure what we will do next year. Ugh. So many decisions.

The house market is insane. Houses are snapped up before they even hit the market. It will settle but for right now, it’s on fire.

  15. Have you ever tried buying bras from Title Nine? They have great customer service and I’d advise talking to them before you buy–they can help you make the right choice. Just a thought…

  16. Your new schedule sounds great!! I need that in my life. Running ot and from meetings with a little time in between to prepare or do actual work is taking a toll. Especially with it’s all zoom these days – so tiring! Congrats on 200 days! I just hit 317 – we’ll see how long I keep this up. Did you plan on runnning that long when you started?

  17. Our son and d-i-l bought a house in January and experienced the same thing you are, with houses getting multiple contracts, etc., but eventually their contract was the one chosen. Here’s hoping the right house will come along for you soon, too!

Great job on your run streak! 🙌🏼
