Happy Sunday.  I am excited with how this week went.  I had 4 recovery runs and 3 days of different workouts.

I was off on Monday and it felt good to be off.  It was a beautiful day.  Tuesday was awful because it was a professional development day.  Yep, from 8am-1:30pm I listened to a speaker about who knows what.  Honestly I was too annoyed to even pay attention.  I have two months to go at school and seriously the last thing I want to do is learn something new.  The good thing is that at least I did not have to go to school but instead worked from home.

A fun workout I did on Tuesday was running for 2 miles, then 4 surges each lasting 30 seconds and recovering 1 minute after each surge, then running easy till I hit 3.5 miles.  I felt really good and told my coach that I could have done more intervals.  I am sure he is going to do that for the next workout.   Tuesday was a gorgeous day and after my PD I went outside to the balcony to read and enjoy some wine.  I didn’t finish the book that day, but I finished it this week.  Who else has read it?  Let’s discuss!

Another fun workout I did was running three 1/4 mile intervals at a target pace with 1/4 mile recovery.  My coach asked me to do the first two in 11:00-11:15 and the last one in 10:45-11:00.  I don’t know what happened but I felt good and ran them faster in 10:32, 10:16, and 9:39.   Finally I am seeing some numbers that I like (again)!

Saturday was 6 miles with five 90 second intervals with a 90 second recovery (one in each mile).  The interval and the recovery ended up being about .25 mile so I ran easy for .75 mile before doing it again.  I also enjoyed this workout and would definitely do it again.  My paces for the intervals were 9:52, 9:46, 9:04, 8:35, and 8:53.  My coach told me that I crushed it!  😊

I am very happy with all of my runs this week.  The weather was great.  I ran in shorts and felt awesome.    Bitmoji Image

32 Comments on Weekly Run Down: Two months to go and great runs this week

  1. So glad you had a good week of running! 2 more months of school- you can do it! It does seem late in the year for PDs, especially with the crazy year its been! I’m sure teachers could use some extra planning time instead!

    • And that is why administrators should not be making these types of decisions. What do they know? Clearly they have no idea what is going on in the classroom.

  2. I loved WIn at All Costs! Tell me what you thought. And will you ever wear Nikes again? I bought new shoes for CF and as cool as the Nikes look, I just couldn’t bring myself to buy them.

    • I also loved it! I have never liked their shoes. I have one pair of winter tights that I wear here and there when it is very cold, but could definitely give them away and get another brand. They’re just horrible! The bosses knew what was happening and they did nothing. They did not care. I remember seeing Galen at the Rio Olympics and how fast he ran and thinking “Something is not right”. 🙂

  3. Yay for a great week of running! Running fast is fun, isn’t it?
I had to laugh because my husband is a teacher and he HATES profession development days. I’ll say something like “Isn’t it easier than having the kids?” and he’ll snarl “NO!”

  4. Sounds like a great week! Congrats on crushing those intervals. I was hoping my library had the audiobook that you just read. It looks very interesting but I know I will never read it – I need to listen to it! I understand your feelings on learning something new this late in the year. Let’s just get it done 🙂

  5. Ugh on the PD especially 5 and a half hours of it. Win at All Costs is on my TBR list, though I’ll probably do the audio version. I did manage to take Friday off and I spent the afternoon in Backyardia with a book.

    • Well, we did get some breaks but still it was all PD. We didn’t get a chance to work on our school stuff. Backyardia with a book is awesome! I hope you had some wine or beer. 🙂

  6. Those run workouts do sound fun! I’m excited to bring back some intervals like that…but not until AFTER my half marathon. Too risky to drop those in at this late date.

  7. awesome running week!!!

I know what you mean about your learning day though. sometimes I’m just not in the mood. at work we have 2 1/2 days of finance conference that we are all supposed to attend virtually. AND get the work done. Can’t wait /sarcasm

  8. Great week of running Zenaida! Fun workouts like those really help, IMO. I can’t believe how quickly the end of the school year is sneaking up.

    • Thanks! I thought the same thing about the school year. I keep thinking about everything that has happened with my students. I am doing the best with them but know it won’t be easy for them in 3rd grade.

  9. Yay for shorts weather! So funny to hear a teacher be “over” learning this time of year. 🙂
Nice solid week of running. I love doing fun speed workouts.

  10. I am so glad you had a great week! And I would have felt the same about your meeting. I’m just… not a meeting kind of gal. They can pretty much all be emails. The end of school is so close.
