Fit Five Friday: 5 reasons I love my Peloton bike

I received my bike in August 2019.  Yep, before the pandemic.  I ordered it August 3 and received it 10 days later.  I will admit that I didn’t use it as much as I wanted to.  Early this year I resumed my membership after pausing it for a few months.  Now I use it about 3 days a week.  I am happy with that since I run everyday.

Read along to find out why I am loving it.

🚴🏻‍♀️ Variety of classes – The list is long with over 1,000 different classes.  You can pick from 5 minute to 90 minute classes.  You can also pick classes for beginners, low impact, intervals, climb, and theme.  Let’s not forget the music.  There is latin, pop, rock, etc.  The 80s and 90s pop ride classes are lots of fun.  One of my favorite classes is the 30 minute Momento Latino Ride with Robin.  The playlist made me dance and sing while on the bike.

🚴🏻‍♀️ Fun and great instructors – There are over 20 instructors offering classes.  My favorite instructor is Cody but I have ventured out and have also taken classes with Denis, Ally, Jenn, Robin, Olivia, Erik, Tunde, Alex, Leanne, Ben, Christine, Leanne, Emma, and Hannah.  Cody ALWAYS makes me laugh.  His classes are the perfect ones to take when I need someone to cheer me up.

🚴🏻‍♀️ Convenient – There is simply no excuse since I do not have to go anywhere to use it.  The bike is in my living room.  Sometimes I use it while watching TV.

🚴🏻‍♀️ Not just bike classes – With the Peloton membership there are many other classes to pick.  There is strength, yoga, cardio, meditation, running, tread bootcamp, bike bootcamp, and walking.  I’ve done mostly cycling and running with a few walking, strength, stretching, and meditation classes.  There is seriously many classes available.

🚴🏻‍♀️ Affordable monthly fee – I pay $39 per month (Peloton All-Access Membership).  Honestly I think it is a great deal as I mentioned that there are many different classes available.  There is also a Peloton Digital Membership for $12.99 per month.  With the latter a Peloton hardware is not required and you can use a computer, phone, tablet, or TV to access the classes.

Weekly Run Down: Goodbye January and Hello February

Weekly Mileage-44.jpg
Doesn’t it seem like January dragged?  I know it was a long month and I was on Winter Break the first week, but still.   I started off the new month with a cold.  Then once I felt better enough to run, I fell.  I took a few weeks off to recover and recently started running again but on the treadmill.

MONDAY: 4 MILES
Mateo couldn’t understand why I was up so early.  He is funny.

WEDNESDAY:  5.01 MILES
I ordered some new Oiselle shorts and couldn’t wait to wear them.  Aren’t they cute?  They’re my favorite shorts for running.  I started watching the Aaron Hernandez series while running and it is so good.

THURSDAY: 3O MINUTES PELOTON
This time I did the Lady Gaga Ride.  Just what I needed after a stressful day at work.

FRIDAY: 3 MILES
Again at the gym to run 3 miles.  The plan was to run on Thursday and rest on Friday.  My legs were sore from Wednesday’s run so I didn’t run.  I know last week I “complained” about not having a treadmill at home, but now it isn’t THAT bad.  A few people reminded me that at least I have access to a treadmill.  So true.  I am getting the hang of it.  I make sure I have all of my stuff for running and for work since I shower, get ready at the gym, and then go to work.  Oh, I also need to take my breakfast and lunch with me too.

I finished the month with 20.50 miles.  January was not a kind month but I am still pleased with my mileage.

SATURDAY: 5.75 MILES
I couldn’t run in the morning because my sister had a training to go to downtown and I had to stay with my mother.  I caught up on reading blog posts (so sorry for responding so late).  I finally headed out to the gym around 4pm.  A friend suggested I watch “Money Heist”.  I did and I like it.  For now there are 3 episodes and I watched half of them.

This made me laugh.  I didn’t even notice it until someone made a comment on Strava.  I was on the treadmill the whole time.

How was your week?  Any other shows to watch on Netflix?  Someone suggested Grace and Frankie.  I am looking forward to the new season of Narcos Mexico which will be available on February 13.

Weekly Run Down: Almost 100% recovered and still no running

How did this week go by fast?  I thought I was ready to run last week (I even signed up at another gym) but could not wake up on time.  Then my left knee was hurting a little so I guess it was a sign that I wasn’t ready yet.

Let me explain about the gym.  I have Blue Cross Blue Shield.  They have a Fitness Program in which I pay $25 per month and I can sign up at various gyms in the network.  There are gym like Blink, Charter Fitness, and Planet Fitness.  Now I have another gym I can go to.  I’ve heard good things about Blink and was looking forward to going there.

I don’t think I’ve ever linked up with Kim and Deborah in which there was no running during the week.  A few times I ran maybe once or twice but never not running.  Oh well, there is always a first time.

This week I used the Peloton 4 times.  That’s the most in one week!  Cody is my favorite instructor.  He is so fun and I enjoy all of his classes.  Today’s class was all 80s music and I liked all of the songs except one.

On Monday I had to take  my car for an emissions test (it passed) and then bought my license plate sticker (I paid over $150 for it).  I couldn’t buy said sticker until the emissions test.  Then I went to the dentist.  I’ve been going to the same dentist for over 20 years!

I know I shouldn’t be complaining about the weather but it is cold today.  We even got snow on Friday.

I went out this morning to do laundry and to stop at Target.  I am not planning to leave my house till tomorrow.  I tried this new to me soap after reading Wendy’s post.  Anyone else uses it?

Weekly Run Down: End of the month and 335 miles

Weekly Mileage-36.jpg

Happy Sunday!  I hope you had a great week with your family.  I had a great time and ate so much these past couple of days.  It was all yummy but not good for my waist.  🙁

How is it that we are in December?  November did go by fast and I am sure December will too.  I will be in school 3 weeks and then will have Winter Break.

I did not run a lot in November.

For some reason I did not feel good this week.  I was sneezing a lot.  For sure I thought I would get sick but I didn’t.  Could it be allergies?  I remember my doctor telling me that as one gets older, they can get allergies.

Monday morning I ran 3 miles. I forgot to delete my records last week but remembered to do it on Monday.  Happy with my fast mile.

I did not run on Tuesday but saw a beautiful sunrise.

My coach moved a few workouts because I did not feel good.  I was exhausted Tuesday and Wednesday.  Due to the changes I ended up running on Thanksgiving.  It was a fun workout.  It was 3 miles warmup and 6×1 minute intervals with 1 minute recovery, then another mile or so to end with 5 miles.  I got 2 badges!

Another record for me.  Boy, I have a lot of work to do.  🙂

Something happened with my left foot.  The top left side began to bother me.  I was supposed to run 6 miles on Saturday but didn’t because of my foot.  Plus it was raining and I did not want to run in the rain. 😜

It felt somewhat better on Sunday but I didn’t make it to one mile.  It hurt!  I went back home and sent a text to my couch.  He said it was probably due to a tight calf and tendon.  I thought it was my shoes and decided to retire my Brooks Ghost 11 with 335 miles.  I was hoping to make it to 400 miles.  How cute are my new Oiselle tights?

My coach had me do 60 minutes (20 minutes easy followed by 4 x 5 minutes fast, 5 minutes easy).  That is the longest I have been on the bike!  I thought it would be bored but I wasn’t. 😜  I biked through several cities by the sea and watched TV.

Do you have allergies?  Did you have them as a kid or “recently”?

Weekly Run Down: A new kitten and still no running

Still no running but my foot does feel better.  This week I did 4 workouts on the Peloton bike.  My bottom does not hurt as much but still get a little sore.  I do have a seat cover but maybe I need cycling shorts?

Peloton Workout-6.jpg

I enjoy the classes that have various resistance levels.  Yesterday’s was tough!  I don’t know if you can see in the picture but this class had a 90-100% resistance.  Yeah, I didn’t last that long but I still enjoyed it.

Doing good in my challenge.

Peloton Workout-7.jpg

My brother found a kitten and brought him/her on Sunday.  It is adorable!!!  We first thought it was a girl but now I think it is a boy.  I am 99% sure it is a boy.  We have a vet appointment on Tuesday for a checkup and we’ll then find out for sure.

Lola is spoiled and is NOT happy with the kitten.  She spends her time hissing at the poor kitty.  We kept the kitten in my sister’s room this week.  However, yesterday he was able to roam around the apartment and simply would not stop.  He has so much energy!!  I had a name in mind (Luca) but now I am not so sure.  Now I am thinking Mateo?

Yesterday the kitten was enjoying Lola’s scratcher so I put it in my sister’s room because I know Lola wouldn’t want to use it anymore. (Lola hissed at me when she smelled the new kitten smell on me and for a few hours wanted nothing with me).  At Target I found the cutest scratcher that they can both use.  I mean eventually they would have to get along, right?  Haha, to them it is more of a toy.

Friday was an interesting day.  Well with it being Friday the 13th and a full moon, I was expecting the worst.  Not really.  It went better than expected.  My kids had to take a MAP test in Math and we were done in about 1 hour and 20 minutes.  Then we spent the rest of the day taking more tests (spelling, reading, and math), some fun time, and then watched part of a movie.

Full Moon and Friday the 13.jpg

With the new TV I also purchased a new DVD player.  Earlier this morning I watched “La Llorona” and even though I was scared, I liked it!  I remember as a kid my sister telling me the story.  Next we are going to watch “Aladdin”.

Not so much an exciting week.  🙂  I am going to try running tomorrow and see how it goes.  I have a half marathon next month!  How was your week?
