I decided to name my kitten Mateo.  I love that name!  My mom calls him Teo as a nickname.  He is a wild kitten with so much energy.  Lola is beginning to like him and she does not hiss as much anymore.  I took Mateo to the vet on Tuesday and while he is healthy (so far), he has fleas.  🙁  The vet gave him a dosage of Revolution and also gave me some for Lola.  I am supposed to go back in 3 weeks for another check up and for more additional shots for Mateo.

My coach updated my training calendar for my upcoming race on October 20th.  This week I ran 3 days and it felt great being out there.  I cleared all of my records again (hopefully I won’t have to do it again for a while) and this week have some new records.

My plantar fasciitis is a bit better.  I bought a Strassburg sock but ended up returning it since it was uncomfortable at night.  I bought a sleeve to wear during the day and at night, some inserts for my running shoes and my Tieks.  The Tieks are even more comfortable to wear and don’t hurt my feet as much anymore.  I requested a note from my doctor to “let” me wear gym shoes at school.  Now I just need a note to wear jeans during the week.  🙂

For months I’ve been trying to win tickets for Hamilton using an appI finally won and went on Wednesday.  It is sad to say that I did not like it.  I got bored.  I’ve seen The Lion King, Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Rock of Ages, Aida, Miss Saigon, and The Color Purple and have loved each one.  I LOVE musicals and was looking forward to it.  I did not like that the whole musical was all singing and/or rap.  I left at the intermission so I only watched half of it.  Still I am glad I went and got it out of my system.

Have you seen “Hamilton”?  Did you like it or were disappointed like me?

24 Comments on Weekly Run Down: Mateo and Hamilton

  1. I have not seen Hamilton! I have listened to the music, and I will admit that did not move me, but you’re the first person I’ve heard say they didn’t like it.

That’s great that you’re running again and that the PF is a bit better.

Way back when (decades ago, before I got married) we took in a kitten with fleas. We gave her a flea bath. It’s a wonder we didn’t kill her, but didn’t know how dangerous those things can be at the time. That’s great that Lola is taking to him.

Enjoy kittenhood; it goes by in the blink of an eye!

  2. I’m glad that your PF is doing a little better and that you’ve found a few products to use that really help.

Wow, I’m surprised that you didn’t like Hamilton! Everyone I know that has seen it really liked it.

    • I still need to buy those lacrosse balls which you had mentioned work for you. I know. I am surprised I didn’t like Hamilton either. And I agree that so many people like it!

  3. Little Mateo is adorable (and I’m not a cat person LOL). Glad the PF is feeling better…just stick with the treatment and easy does it. That stuff is quick to stage a comeback if it’s not allowed to fully heal. Good luck!

    • I hope seeing pictures of my cute Mateo make you a cat person. 🙂 My plan is to take it easy the next couple of weeks to be well enough to run my race in MI. Cross your fingers!

  4. Awww I love the name Mateo! He’s so cute! Glad Lola is adjusting to him. I think it’s pretty normal for the Strassborg sock to be uncomfortable, at least for a little while.

    • My happy day will be when I see them cuddling and sleeping on the same bed. For now I am content that they play together. I’ve heard mixed reviews about the Strassburg sock now I am not sure what to do.

  5. Awww, cute Mateo!! One of our kittens had fleas too – well, I saw the worms and think those came from fleas? Anyhow, I’m glad it’s common, but ewww, right? My kittens are now just crazy bundles of energy that like to wrestle non-stop whenever they are not napping. That’s interesting that you didn’t like Hamilton. I’m not sure I would either. But so cool you won the tickets!! I tried wearing a sock to bed for PF and it drove me nuts too. I think after a few days I got used to it. Insoles really helped my husband. They were Powerstep brand, bought at our running store.

    • You saw worms? Oh wow! I didn’t even know about the fleas till the vet told me. Mateo is always after Lola and wants to play with her. Yeah, I was excited too about winning tickets but bummer I did not like it. So far the insoles I have are helping but I will check out the brand you mentioned.

  6. Baby Teo is adorable. I think your doctor should give you a note to wear jeans, my husband’s company doesn’t even do casual Friday while I get to wear jeans everyday, and just sayin’ he has PF and I don’t. But seriously though, it is a beast and I hope it heals up soon. Out of everything that he tried, my husband felt that the R3 roller from Roll Recovery helped him the most.

    • We get to wear jeans only on Fridays. I have the R8 and that sucker is painful but still feels good. I’ve heard good things about the R3 roller so I may have to look into it.

  7. Teo is so cute!
I returned my Strassburg sock too. Replacement brace seems better and glad you’re finding some relief

“he Lion King, Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Rock of Ages, Aida, Miss Saigon, and The Color Purple ”
Funny – I’m the one person who didn’t like Phantom. Loved Saigon though and LOVED Hamilton. Not obsessed though and once was fine

  8. Mateo is very cute and I love the nickname Teo, too!

I hope your PF continues to improve. Hopefully, spending more time in more supportive shoes (i.e. your running shoes while teaching) will also help speed up recovery. Good luck!
