Weekly Mileage-40.jpg

What a great week this has been!  I slept in almost every day and did something different with my sisters and mom or just with my mom.  She is staying with us for these two weeks.  She keeps asking when she is going back home.  I guess she is tired of staying with us?  🙂

Monday morning I ran 3 easy miles and then my sisters, niece, and nephew came over.  My mother and sister made “picaditas” for breakfast.  They’re small tortillas with a pinched-up rim around the edges.  Then my aunt and uncle came over.  We ate, talked, ate again, and talked some more.

No running on Tuesday but my mother made Mole.  She had the paste and I thought she was only going to mix it with chicken broth but I was wrong.  She added additional spices and let me tell you that it was worth it because it was DELICIOUS.

And this is why I don’t put a tree up for Christmas.

I did get a good picture with my babies.

I was so happy to see my coach schedule a run for Wednesday because it was a beautiful day outside.  I ran 4 miles and wore shorts and my new Brooks Revel 3 shoes.  Then we went to my cousin’s house to eat (again) and hang out together.  Another great time!

No running on Thursday but we went out for lunch with my sisters, niece, and nephew.  We ate at “Mi Tierra” and their food is delicious.  It is one of the few restaurants that serves good Mexican food (in my opinion).  Then we went to get some dessert.

On Friday I ran 2 miles.  I should have run on Thursday because I was cold on Friday morning.  Plus for some reason I struggles running 2 miles.  Must have been all of the food I’ve been eating.  🙂

I was planning to go to WaterFall Glen on Saturday morning but woke up late so I ran by my house.  I needed to be back in time to shower, get ready, and eat something before heading out to the movies.  We saw “Jumanji”.  It was really good and funny too.

As you can see, this week was full of eating good food and spending a lot of time with family.  Being with family is definitely THE BEST.  I did all of my runs and 2 Peloton workouts.  Oh and thanks to Facebook for the reminder from 8 years ago.  Yes, we did find her house.  🙂

I hope you had a great week!  What are your plans for the New Year?  We haven’t decided yet but most likely we’ll stay home and go to bed early.  🙂

Linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down.

  1. Isn’t it great, just to eat, sleep, run and be with family? I love days like that. Well done on getting all your runs in!
I like your plans for New Year’s eve! We are seeing friends to go for a run and then eat pizza at their place. As their daughter has the early shift at the hospital on 1st January, we will probably leave around 9pm and go to bed well before midnight. I don’t care too much about fireworks and stuff.

  2. I’m so glad that you are enjoying your Winter Break!

I always stay in for New Years Eve. I normally just order pizza, watch TV, and then have champagne. It’s fun!

  3. Aw man the weather was incredible here as well and I got some beautiful outdoor runs for Christmas week. Was not expecting that but I will take it!

  4. What a nice week of family time! My cat has been climbing in our Christmas tree less this year, but still, any climb up the tree is not appreciated! I think she has knocked down and broken 4 ornaments this year. I just hope to stay wake past 9:30pm so we can celebrate New Years! We are in Colorado and the time zone is throwing us off 🙂

  5. Mmm. All that homemade food looks great! I love your Christmas running gear — do your shoes have a holiday/winter pattern too? That’s amazing. LOL on your Catmas tree. 🙂

  6. Yay for a great week….running and weather! A bunch of us get together on New Year’s Day for a run at our lake…no matter how late any of us stay out the evening prior 🙂 happy New Year!!

  7. So glad you had such a great week! I wish I could sleep in. Sometimes I do at my moms sometimes.(no furkids to take care of, often staying up later than normal, plus all the driving).

My Dad is kind of the same, for obvious reason, wanting to know when he can go home. So far anytime my sister has been there he’s been asleep. Dementia patients often mix up day & night, and he does, and that was part of the problem we’d been having with him.

Sounds like you had a great holiday! If the weather cooperates, I’ll be at my mom’s tomorrow, but definitely won’t be staying up til midnight.

  8. Looks like you are enjoying your time off and you should be.

I have been eating A LOT but that will end until next year…so it’s all good. Except that I’m not running as much…due to that darn foot.

Happy New Year. Hope 2020 is a good one.

  9. I bet your mom’s mole was amazing. It looks like you had a lot of fun with your family this holiday and I am so happy for you!

Thanks to my current condition, we will have a low key NYE. Mr PugRunner’s birthday is on 1/1, so I have to save my energy for that.

  10. I love vacation around this time simply for the sleeping in, the running whenever I want and the food. And then after a week or so I’m ready for routine again!!

glad you had such a great week 🙂 I’ll have to add Mi Tierra to my “go to” list when I’m in Chicago again in October! Though I’d rather go to your mom’s at this point for Mexican food!! That would be weird though, just showing up, asking for mole and posole hahaha!
