I have mentioned before that I am not a fan of podcasts. I prefer to listen to music while running. Give me some Spanish songs and 80s and 90s fun music and I am happy. I tried listening to the audiobook “A Promised Land” and just could not get into it while running. I even tried listening to it while driving but got distracted. Yeah, not good while driving. 😬
One day Darlene told me about a podcast with Matty Maggiacomo. He is one of my favorite Peloton instructors. You bet I listened to it on my way to work. I enjoyed it a lot and it was not distracting at all. I found myself laughing and wishing that one day I could meet him.
I am still not listening to podcasts while running, but instead listen to them in the evening and sometimes in the car. Here is what is on my list.
🎧 The Michelle Obama Podcast – What is not to like about her? I have read her book and watched her documentary on Netflix. She is the type of person I would love to sit down and talk while enjoying a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.
🎧 Contrapoder, con Jorge Ramos – He is a well known and respected Mexican journalist. My mom and I watch his show (Al Punto con Jorge Ramos) every Sunday morning. Each episode covers the latest news and many controversial topics. There is something about his voice. I like it. I also like that they’re in Spanish so my mother can listen to it.
Do you listen to podcasts? What else should I add to my list?

Your recommendation about Contrapoder reminded me that podcasts are a great way to practice listening to Spanish!
I never have anything in my ears while running. At home, I could only listen to podcasts while cleaning, but then I usually forget. I should write it down to remember!
That is a good point! Or you can also watch a Spanish show with the subtitles on.
I’m with you on podcasts. I’d much rather listen to music!
With podcasts I need to pay closer attention and I feel like I will trip and fall if I listen to them while running.
Unfortunately, I’m not a podcast person either. In the past 18 months, I’ve gotten used to running sans music, too, and I honestly don’t miss it…never thought I’d have that revelation LOL I’ve done two short races, thus far (well, and a rain-drenched marathon), and I’ve done alright left to my own devices. I have a 13.1 on deck this weekend…that will be a true test since there probably won’t be much in lieu of crowd entertainment on the course…
Running sans music is not that bad. I’ve done it. Good luck this weekend!
I love listening to audiobooks while going to my mom — which is exactly what I’m doing today. Only I’m listening to some Yoga podcasts today. Still making my way through Promised Land but I love it!
It is such a long book!
I could be listening to it all year but I think it’s fascinating.
Glad you enjoy listening to Matty. I laughed too. I sometimes listen to podcasts when I run. When I traveled for work, they were great for driving. I need to get back to that because I do drive to hike.
He was awesome! Now I hope she interviews Cody.
I have never done an audio book. I should try! I like podcasts on road trips. I will definitely check out some of your recommendations!
I wasn’t into them either but happened to get that one because the book version is so popular. I did get it from the library but returned it (someone else was waiting for it) before I had a chance to finish it.
I love audiobooks when I am on road trips. Always so fun. Like you, I prefer music when running.
Music makes me happy!
No, I am not a podcast listener while running. I do like to listen to audible books while walking though!
You need to give me some suggestions of books to listen to.
My husband only listens to podcasts or audiobooks when running and mountain biking. To this day, I don’t know how he does it! But it’s the only way he gets to read. For me, it’s music or nothing!
Glad he found something he likes! I am sure he wants to know how we can only run with music. 🙂
