Here are some random thoughts that have been on my mind lately.  I am doing OK.  Hanging in there and taking it day by day.

💬  Hey there!  How is it that we are going on two years when everything changed?  I remember two years ago I was worried about all the hills in Atlanta.  I was running a half marathon and was not ready.

💬  I love today’s date: 2-22-22!!  I had some fun activities for 2-2-22 (it was a remote learning day for us) and will be doing something similar today with my students.

💬  Lately I’ve been in a weird mood.  I was doing really good with my Peloton and then suddenly felt unmotivated.  I was taking a bike class everyday since January 1 and then took a few days off.  I am not running (more on that later) so at least I am staying active on the bike.  My goal is to complete 300 Peloton rides.  As of yesterday I am at 252 rides.  I’ve had so much fun with Camila’s classes.  I’ve gotten a few PRs and a couple of badges.

💬  I’ve been struggling with a student in my class.  Due to his behavior I’ve had to call for assistance and my students and I have had to go to another room.  It has left me emotionally drained and exhausted.  I feel bad for him and for my students.

💬  My last run was on January 18.  I am over the cold weather and the snow (yesterday was a great day for running but I didn’t have time to run in the morning).  I see others running outside and I simply cannot do it.  I know, I know-it sounds like a bunch of excuses.  I know that having the proper gear makes a different and I have it all, but still no.  Some days I miss running and other days I do not.

💬  I signed up for the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle!  It was $40 and it is one of my favorite races.  I am a little nervous but my goals are just to finish and have fun.  That is all I can do since running my last race almost two years ago.

💬  Do I still want to run a 50k this year?  Absolutely.  Not sure which one yet.  I am bummed I could not keep up with my training and run the original race I was planning to run on March 26.  Oh well, things happen for a reason.

💬  I bought some new shoes.  Have you seen the latest Brooks Ghost 14 shoes?  So cute!  But that’s it.  No more shoes this year.  😀  Someone take away my credit card.

  1. So cool that you signed up for the Shamrock Shuffle! 🍀😊
And it looks like you will have the right shoes for it, too.
    How long is the race?

  2. It sounds like you just needed a break once you start and run that race you’ll get your mojo back.

I was gung ho about Peleton and rode everyday. And then I petered out and quit. I hear about all those fun classes and I almost sign up. But work and running keeps me busy enough so I’m saving my $.

Good luck with your race. Love the shoes. Topos are so boring.

  3. I am sorry that you’re in a funk, Zenaida. It definitely happens to all of us, whether we admit it or not. I think signing up for that race will help you to get your running mojo back!

As you know I am not a fan of Winter running either, but I have the luxury of not having to go to a job. Even though my time is often not my own, I still am not tied to running very early in the morning (and in the dark!) or in the evening. That makes a big difference!

I hope you find the perfect 50k for you. Good luck, Zenaida!

  4. Sorry you lost your running mojo — maybe it will come back with spring weather — or those cute shoes will help you find it!

Having a challenging student must be draining. Hopefully s/he gets the help needed.

    Have a great Twosday!

  5. I really love the Pelo cycling classes, but I had not thought of doing a class each day. There are so many “shorter” classes that it would be a great goal to work towards without a huge time commitment. Hopefully the Shamrock Shuffle will help you get back into running (especially with the new shoes!) <3

    • Normally I wouldn’t take a class everyday but I wasn’t running so I needed something to keep me active. But I might have pushed it too far with all of the classes. 🙂

  6. Yes, I’ll bet you were able to do some fun things for 2/22/22 in school! Other than mentioning the date in my blog post, I’m not doing anything special about the day.
Funny how phases of life can be so different. Last year at this time you were doing your running streak. You’ve proved that you can run outside in the winter, consistently, and for whatever reason it’s not for you right now, but you’re crushing the Peloton classes… and then you’ll come back around to running- especially with a race coming up!
This time of year is always hard up north- soon it will be spring and a whole new phase will start. Keep hanging in there!

    • Thanks for the reminder! You are right. Last year we also had awful weather and I was out there running. Now, I was mainly running 1 mile a day but I was out there. I am sure soon I will be motivated again to start running. I mean, I have to with a race coming up soon. 🙂

  7. Everyone has their own threshold for when it’s too cold or too hot to run outside and you have to do what’s comfortable for you.

Those shoes are cute! Luckily for my wallet, I’ve never been tempted to buy holiday design shoes; but not to worry, there are plenty of other things that scream for my money. LOL

  8. Maybe those cute shoes will get you in the running mood again! That Shamrock Shuffle sounds really fun

  9. I think often about Atlanta being my last race and how glad I am we were able to go! Nutso!

I am so sorry about the struggle with that student. That does sound so draining. I hope things get better soon.

I am totally over the really cold weather too. I have been running very little and very slowly! Ha!

  10. So sorry to hear about one of your students. I can only imagine how draining that must be trying to figure out what works for him but also ensuring the other kids get a fair chance at learning. Sending lots of love.

    Those shoes are so pretty!
