Welcome to the March edition of the Ultimate Coffee Date hosted by Coco and Deborah.  It’s also time for another edition of Fit Five Friday hosted by My First 5K and MoreRunning With AttitudeRun Laugh Eat PieRuns with Pugs, and me!  Let’s get started, shall we?

I am glad February is over.  It did go by quickly.  While it was a mild temperature-wise month for us, it is now March, and some warmer weather.  But first Mother Nature decided to drop us a Winter storm that will start today in the afternoon.  I am crossing my fingers and toes that the meteorologist got it all wrong and we won’t get any snow at all.

Now, grab a mug of your favorite beverage and let’s chat for a bit!

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that just like I had a good experience with Amazon last month, I also had a good experience with Running Warehouse.  I ordered two shirts and they supposedly were delivered.  I remember that that day someone else’s package was on the front steps and so I took it to the correct house.  Nothing from Running Warehouse.  I reached out to them and after a few email conversations with them and UPS, another package with the two shirts were sent to me.  I am pretty sure the original package was delivered to the wrong house, but whoever received it decided to keep it.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that there are a few houses that I like but not one that I would buy right now.  Last year I told my landlord that I know he wants me to move and that I am looking for a house.  He told me that he understands and that there is no rush for me to leave.  He also mentioned how expensive the houses cost.  I was relieved.  The houses on my list are ready for me to view and hopefully buy just in case he gives me a notice that I need to move.  Is my plan the best plan?  Probably not, but I don’t think there is another option for me.  I do wish the interest rates weren’t ridiculously high.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I am inspired by Erica’s run streak.  She just finished 3 years and still going!  I did a one-year run streak a few years ago.  However, just when I “start” one, something comes up and then I don’t run that day.  I guess that is the universe telling me not to do it.  Right?

If we were having coffee…
Last month I received an email from Twitter telling me that I’ve been a member for 11 years.  Let me tell you that I am not sure how I feel about Twitter.  Sometimes I like it and sometimes I don’t.  Other times I wonder if I am using it correctly.  A few months ago I was into it and enjoyed reading the conversations but now I am tired of it.  Too many politics and many people being downright mean and rude.  Who has time for that?  I haven’t deactivated my account but did remove the app from my phone.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that a friend tagged me on a Facebook photo from CARA promoting one of their upcoming races to take place next month.  I remember that race a few years ago.  It is a nice photo (I love black and white photos) and I look happy in it.  However, right away my eyes went to the stomach area and I was horrified.  Ugh!  I know, I know, I shouldn’t feel that way but I couldn’t help it.

  1. Another snowstorm coming my way. As you know it doesn’t affect me. Sigh.

Streaks aren’t for everyone. We just do what we can.

I think we are super critical of ourselves. I often cringe at the wrinkles and sagging skin in my pics.

Hope you find the perfect house. Glad to hear your landlord understands.

  2. The interest rates really did change the house-buying game. I hope it works out for you.

I deactivated/deleted my Twitter account while there were still people employed to do it. 😉

It’s a huge honor to be used in a race ad! I think everyone else looks at that photo and just sees a happy runner!

  3. Unfortunately, you did miss the window for the lower interest rates. I don’t think we will see those go down for years. Hope you are able to find something that works for you. You do look happy in that running photo-I say go back this year and run it and take a photo that you love.

  4. Isn’t that CARA photo the one where I met you? That was a long time ago! I love that they used your picture. What a fun race!

I hope you don’t get snow today! I’m in California, but my hubs told me that it was supposed to go south.

  5. I’m also glad to have made it to March. While our winter is far from over, at least we know we’re on the “short side” of the cold…right? The extended daylight has been wonderful!!! That’s neat they featured a pic of you for the race! You have such a nice smile 🙂

    • Hopefully the rest of March is still mild. Not only do I dislike the colder weather, but I hate having to wear so many layers. I’d rather run in shorts and a tank top.

  6. Continued good luck with the house search. One has got to be out there for you!

I’m technically on Twitter but almost never look at it. I don’t know how people keep up with social media.

I feel you on the photo. We’re all human and we all want to look like our outsides match our insides. Still the truth is it’s what’s on the inside that matters!

  7. Oh, I know- I usually cringe at race photos- usually because I’m noticing poor form, but there are other issues as well! Focus on the fact that you were healthy and in shape to run that race, and on how happy you look!
I grew up in the Chicago area and I remember having snow on Easter. So getting some in early March isn’t too bad! I hope you don’t get dumped on too badly.

  8. Ha! That email from Twitter was probably there to remind you of how awesome it is and it had the exact wrong effect on you! I hope some marketing person at Twitter is reconsidering their chosen career path right now.

  9. That’s a fantastic picture of you running, and what I see is your beautiful face and happy smile.

Fingers crossed that you don’t get the snow that’s forecasted!

  10. I commend anyone who can continue a run streak. I have only done the run a mile a day from Thanksgiving to new years and even that was a struggle. Goodluck in buying a home. It can be so stressful. Look a you a local celebrity on a race promotion….haha. I love it!

  11. How cool that the race featured you! I like that photo – you look so happy! I think we’re just naturally critical of ourselves.

I really hope you’re able to find a house that you like. It’s so unfortunate that the rates have climbed so much. Glad your landlord has been understanding.

  12. I hate Twitter! I always feel like it has the most aggressive users of all the platforms.

Good plan on the house. I want to move like yesterday, but interest is awful and prices are super high.

    • I hate that they’re expensive and the rate is so high. But then when they’re low, everyone rushes to buy and it is very competitive. I guess it is “never” a good time to buy.

  13. We completely missed the winter storm up here and I am good with that! I too am pleased to be out of February. Twitter is not my favorite.

  14. I tried a run streak once and i think I made it like 42 days before I was injured 🙁 I really do envy but also admire people who can keep it up! I’m doing a walk streak this year. I just have to do minimum of 1 kilometer every day. That’s like 10-12 minutes. I can make time for that. So far so good. Less pressure than running every day in my opinion.

hopefully you find a house soon that you’ll want to buy. it’s tough and you don’t want to feel pressured. I think we felt a bit pressured because the prices were going up so quickly and we really wanted to live in this neighborhood. I love my house but would I buy it again in other circumstances? Maybe not… it’s old, cold and needs work. Plenty of projects in this house!!

I think it’s an amazing photo of you. I wouldn’t have even looked at your stomach if you hadn’t said anything. I just see your beautiful, genuinely happy face.

I’m still on twitter but lord knows for how much longer. It’s a dumpster fire now that Elon has taken over.

  15. I’m here to give you a pep talk. You are a beautiful woman. Your face and smile are just lovely. I get it about the “my mind automatically zeroed in on x, y, z I don’t like about my body” though! Totally get it. We all do that. But I think the rest of us only saw a great B&W photo with a happy, smiling and badass woman.

Also – I get the pull of a streak but only do it if you really want to, and it sounds like you don’t! There are a lot of running goals and you don’t have to make doing a streak one of them.
