Hello there!  Welcome to September.  Finally my favorite season will be here.  Although here in Chicago it already feels like Fall and I am LOVING it

My next race is the Detroit Free Press/TCF Bank Half Marathon on October 20.  My training has not been going like I wanted it to go but I am excited to run a race in a new state.  I am more excited about running to/in Canada (although I’ve read that the tunnel is about a mile long and it is HOT in there).  I have 7 weeks to go so I think I will be ready?  🙂

Another race is the Kiawah Island Golf Resort Half Marathon on December 14.  I have airfare taken care of but still need to find a place to stay.  It is expensive to stay on the island.  I am thinking of maybe staying in Charleston and renting a car.  Hopefully I’ll find someone that already has a hotel room and is willing to share it with me.

Kiawah Island Half Marathon-1

I was hoping to finish my 50 states goal next year in Hawaii.  The plan was to run in 3 states in August but I had to cancel due to my plantar fasciitis.  I have races planned out for most of the remaining states but still need WY, SD, and ND.  Any suggestions?  Perhaps one I can in November or January?

  1. Kiawah Island is so tempting, that’s been on my radar for so long (and hurricane season is over by then). Alas I’m pretty sure if I decided to do it that the hubby would want to come along, as he’s never been there either.

I definitely want to check out Charleston, too!

I hope you can feel ready by your half. I know you can do it, but I also know that life has a way of getting in the way. Pulling for it to go your way!

  2. I’d like to run Detroit sometime, for the experience of running through the tunnel and Canada if nothing else. I have a half in late September and another in early November, which I’m excited about and I’m hoping to get a few 5/10k’s in there before the end of the year.

  3. Detroit has been on my bucket list forever! Bummer I wasn’t a runner when lived in the East Lansing area. It always seem like another race pops up and I register before remembering Detroit LOL Maybe next year….

  4. That Detroit Free Press run looks amazing and one I have tagged for my 50 States challenge.

Fall running is pretty much the same as summer running here. Our race season doesn’t kick up until late December/early January because that’s when temps start to drop a little. l wish we could get some of those leaf-changing, cool breeze, apple-cider smelling runs here, but it’s just not meant to be.
